At the opening of the Workshop on Validation of Artificial Intelligence Policies in Kosovo, organized by RIT Kosovo with the support of the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP), which brought together representatives from the government, the public sector and academia, the Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, spoke about the government’s approach and priorities in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Minister Jagxhiu emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way we learn, work, communicate and govern. For Kosovo, this transformation is a necessity for the competitiveness, security and position of our country in the global economy.
He said that this is why we are investing in the institutional and technological foundations of this transformation: strengthening interoperability and data governance, standardizing and increasing their quality, as well as developing digital capacities in the public sector. At the same time, government institutions are integrating Artificial Intelligence into new digital transformation initiatives, including e-Kosovo 2.0, integrated, proactive and personalized services based on life events and the Digital Agent in the Kosovo Tax Administration.
As a country aiming for membership in the European Union, we will orient our legal framework towards harmonization with the European Union Act on Artificial Intelligence, while advancing with the Governing Framework for Artificial Intelligence and guidelines for its use in the public sector. The dialogue with the private sector and academia and the recommendations of this workshop will contribute to the development of sustainable and responsible policies towards Artificial Intelligence, while advancing its use in public administration and beyond, in the economy and society.
