On the sidelines of the Western Balkans Digital Summit in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, Minister Lulëzon Jagxhiu met with representatives of the World Bank, with whom he discussed in particular cooperation in advancing electronic identity (eID) and strengthening cybersecurity in Kosovo.
At the meeting, plans for the launch of the national electronic identification platform were presented, and further steps to expand its functionalities and use cases were discussed. The first phase will enable strong electronic authentication and electronic signing of documents, to be followed by the expansion of the platform’s use and alignment with the European eIDAS 2.0 framework and the European Digital Identity Wallet.
In the field of cybersecurity, the minister discussed the transposition of the European NIS2 Directive, focusing on the next steps for identifying and designating essential and important entities, which will be subject to obligations to implement cybersecurity measures under this directive.

We will continue to rely on the World Bank’s expertise and financial support for the further development of digital services and infrastructure in Kosovo.
