The Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, concluded his official visit to Japan with a fruitful meeting with the Minister of State for Digital Transformation of Japan, Soichiro Imaeda.
At the meeting, where he was accompanied by the Ambassador of Kosovo to Japan, Sabri Kiçmari, the friendly relations between the two countries and the mutual will to deepen bilateral cooperation in the spirit of the democratic values shared by the two countries were appreciated. Minister Jagxhiu thanked Minister of State Imaeda for the continuous support from the Government of Japan in the field of digitalization, which has intensified in the last 3 years through two grants totalling 800,000 USD, which Kosovo has benefited from within the Quality Infrastructure Investment program, which is managed by the World Bank and financed by the Japanese Government. This support has contributed to the implementation of important activities in the action plan, including the development of the government data catalogue platform, the functional and technical design of eKosova 2.0, the design of the digital services catalogue, the design of the government-wide internal systems platform, and the functional and architectural design of the integrated services centre.
During the meeting, Minister Jagxhiu was informed about the developments and Japan’s approach to digital transformation, while presenting the progress achieved in Kosovo and the goals of the country’s digital agenda. The parties concluded that both countries share a common vision for digital transformation in the function of the well-being of citizens and on the principle of inclusiveness, with the aim that no citizen remains excluded from the benefits of this transformation.
In this context, there was a discussion on increasing cooperation between Kosovo and Japan in the field of digital transformation and cybersecurity, with a focus on the exchange of institutional experiences and the advancement of digital services. Minister Jagxhiu and Minister of State Imaeda agreed to continue institutional communication in order to further advance the partnership between the two countries. On this occasion, Minister Jagxhiu invited Minister Imaeda to visit Kosovo.
