Visit of Minister Lulëzon Jagxhiu, at the Ericsson Nikola Tesla office in Prishtina, with a focus on discussing developments in the field of technology and innovation in Kosovo.
Minister Jagxhiu was hosted by the Chief Executive Officer and President of the Board, Mr. Siniša Krajnović, as well as the Director of the Kosovo Office, Mr. Besar Spahija.
Ericsson Nikola Tesla, the largest ICT company in Croatia, operates within the Swedish company Ericsson and specializes in research, development and engineering.
As part of the global Ericsson group, the company is one of the world leaders in telecommunications, with a focus on the development of 4G/5G mobile networks, Radio Access Networks (RAN) solutions, as well as technologies for digital transformation and network security.
During the visit, the Research and Development (R&D) Centre in Prishtina, opened in 2022, was appreciated, which directly contributes to the development of software and functionalities for RAN systems and is part of Ericsson’s global innovation chain.
With over 25 professionals, satisfied with the technological talent of Kosovar youth and with plans to expand the team, this centre is strengthening Kosovo’s role as part of the global innovation ecosystem.
During the meeting, Minister Jagxhiu informed Mr. Krajnovic about Kosovo’s progress in digital transformation, as well as about the key reforms and initiatives being undertaken in the field of digitalization and cybersecurity. On the other hand, Mr. Krajnovic presented the activities of the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla, which includes the provision of mobile communications products and solutions, innovative solutions within the framework of digital transformation, as well as solutions in the field of national security.
The presence of prestigious global companies such as Ericsson adds value to the innovation ecosystem and technology industry in Kosovo.
The Ministry of Digitalization and Public Administration remains open to cooperation with local and international companies that contribute to the development of technological capacities, the creation of new jobs with added value, the strengthening of the innovation ecosystem and the integration of Kosovo into global digital economy chains
