Following the decision of the Council of the European Union authorising the opening of negotiations with the Western Balkan countries for their inclusion in the “EU Roam Like at Home” area, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, at today’s meeting, approved the initiative to conclude an agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, marking an important step towards the country’s integration into this area.
Kosovo’s participation in “EU Roam Like at Home” will enable citizens to communicate without additional roaming charges while travelling within the European Union. Businesses will also benefit from lower communication costs and easier cooperation within the European market. Kosovo’s diaspora will likewise enjoy direct benefits when visiting the country.
At the same meeting, the Government also approved the Digital Capacity Building Framework for the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, which establishes a unified model for developing digital skills across public administration.
The framework aims to strengthen institutional capacities, support the professional development of public officials, and advance digital transformation as a sustainable process that improves the quality of public services for citizens.
These decisions demonstrate the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to advancing European integration, accelerating digital transformation, and building more efficient, modern, and future-ready institutions.
