The Legal Department provides professional support in the drafting, development and harmonization of legislation within the scope of the Ministry, ensuring compliance with local standards and the European Union acquis, as well as guaranteeing correct implementation and legal advice for the institution.

The duties and responsibilities of the Legal Department are:
To provide legal support in the drafting of strategic and legislative documents within the scope of the Ministry;
To provide assistance in the drafting of primary and secondary legislation within the scope of the Ministry;
To ensure compliance with the techniques and standards of drafting legislation within the scope of the Ministry;
To ensure the harmonization of the Ministry's legislation with the European Union legislation (acquis communautaire), as well as with the laws applicable in Kosovo;
To provide legal advice and recommendations from the Ministry's scope of activity upon request;
To cooperate with the Ministry of Justice to represent the Ministry in judicial disputes;
The following divisions are included within this department:
Division for the Drafting and Harmonization of Legislation;
Division for Supervising the Implementation of Legislation, Legal Support and Inter- institutional Cooperation in the Field of Legislation;
